Streams
2 Years – 6 Years
A rich, mixed-age learning environment for children aged 2 to 6 years.
With thoughtful teacher-to-child ratios of 1:6 for our younger children and 1:7 for our older children, our Streams Room provides the guidance, space, and encouragement children need as they grow in confidence and independence.
Minimum enrolment is two days for children aged 2–3 years, and three days for children aged 3–6 years.
Our Streams Room offers a wide range of meaningful learning opportunities within a vibrant mixed-age setting. This natural learning approach allows younger children to learn alongside older, more capable peers, while older children develop empathy, leadership, responsibility, and care for their younger friends. In many ways, this reflects the familiar rhythms of home and whānau life, where children learn from one another, navigate relationships, and grow through shared experiences.
Streams Room
Younger children in the Streams Room are supported by strong teacher-to-child ratios that enable our qualified team to gently guide, encourage, and extend their learning as they explore an open and engaging environment. These considerate ratios recognise that toddlers are developing the skills, dispositions, and confidence they need to participate alongside others, work cooperatively, and begin taking responsibility for themselves and their interactions. With responsive teachers close at hand, children are empowered to explore, discover, and build both capability and self-belief.
Older children in the Streams Room are encouraged to follow their individual interests within a rich and varied learning environment, supported by purposeful interactions and opportunities for deeper exploration.
Our dispositional and natural learning curriculum, informed by current research, recognises that readiness for school is most strongly supported by a child’s social and emotional competence, sense of self, confidence, curiosity, and ability to manage themselves within a group. We work closely with local schools and reception teachers to understand the transition to school and thoughtfully weave these insights into our curriculum, helping children develop the skills, attitudes, and resilience they need for their next stage of learning.
